PASSAGE
Parkinson's OVER TIME

A collage of timelapses, inspired by conversations with Tim.

PASSAGE explores the shifting nature of identity, memory, and time in the face of Parkinson’s.
For Tim, Parkinson’s has gradually tightened its grip, but he remains—changed, yet not erased. “Getting diagnosed gave me the chance to retire. I was actually gagging for it! It was like going back to when I was 15… before I had to grow up, get a job, buy a house, and pay bills. It was wonderful.”
There are days of struggle when symptoms take over, leaving him slow and unresponsive—disappearing into the background. “It never leaves you. You never have a day, or even an hour off”. Then there are days of strength, when treatment transforms him, allowing him to move, act, and feel like his old self. “Like Superman. I get this physical power and the desire to do things.”
"I LOVE the less distinct versions of me -  They're like charcoal dabs rather than photos.  I feel they represent the passage of time... during which MY illness has gradually taken a tighter hold.
although the main figure shows that I have not been completely rubbed out by the condition."

Each shifting version of him tells a different story—the many roles, experiences, and moments that make up his life, distinct yet interconnected. His old solicitor’s suit, a relic of a past life, further represents this interplay of continuity and change.
A person is the sum of many fragmented selves, accumulated over time.
